Our DSE (Display Screen Equipment) and seating experts will also be on hand all day and can help advise the best ergonomic chair that will support the lower back and help with good posture.

This seminar will help you to learn and understand the factors that affect productivity in the workplace and the cost to businesses with learning objectives including:

10.45am - Acoustics Debunking the myths
- Rosalind Lambert – Porter MSc MIOA MIED MInstSCE

RIBA accredited CPD Seminars

This seminar looks at what we really consider when designing a good acoustic environment and where we are going wrong. The learning objectives of this seminar include:

• Why we should address acoustics in office environments
• The human response to sound
• The basic measures of sound that influence the quality of acoustics in offices
• The A, B and C of acoustics and common misconceptions
• What do the standards say and where are they misleading?

Each seminar is one hour long and involves an interactive workshop, question and answer session and an opportunity to look at some of our acoustic ranges.

If you’re an architect, designer or specifier you will receive a certificate as proof of attendance, to contribute to maintaining professional accreditations. 1.00pm - A Beginners Guide to Acoustics
- Claire Williams

This presentation considers how we feel about sound, both good and bad with an overview of effective acoustic products.

Learning objectives include:

• That sound is highly subjective
• Learn about types of sound and the different paths sound takes
• The most common noise issues experienced at work and how to tackle them
• An overview of acoustic product offerings and examples of how they are used

1.45pm - Our journey towards the future workplace
- Claire Williams

This seminar discusses where we are heading, what is fueling the journey and how we can keep up the pace for the future workspace. Focusing on technology of tomorrow and how it will impact on the how, where and when of working.

2.30pm - Don’t stand so close to me ‘Why space and territory matter’
- Claire Williams

This talk looks at the importance of considering Proxemics and Territoriality when designing work places. Proxemics is one of five non-verbal communication theories that explain how people perceive and use space to achieve communication goals. Territoriality is applying that theory to places.

We then consider how to create more people focused spaces that encourage communication, reduce invasion of personal space and support productivity.
