The Year 5 maths group met with Andrew before Christmas in the first workshop which explored the factors to consider when designing spaces. Their task before the next workshop was to use the knowledge they had learned and accurately measure their own KS2 breakout area using all the helpful guidance and tips Andrew shared with them to produce a scaled drawing. The children have gone onto exploring furniture product catalogues and fabric guides, and suggested some options which they feel would suit the needs of the space.
The successful collaboration project has been a fantastic opportunity to share expertise and resources with bright, enthusiastic pupils who are developing their practical and communication skills in mathematics, design, and problem solving, whilst giving us the perfect opportunity to help and support one of our valued customers.
“This unique project is being run in partnership with MACOI Ltd, the company that has provided us with some of the fantastic furniture that we have installed around the school.
The series of hands-on workshops with Andrew, has given the children a great opportunity to apply their math and design knowledge, and we’re all very much looking forward to the rest of our planned sessions together” said Shelley Priestley, Deputy Head Teacher.
