When designing new work spaces we’re often asked “how do acoustics really work?”.
To understand the principle of acoustics, we have created a small example below to demonstrate the basics of how good acoustic products can improve your working environment.
Firstly, if you stand in a room and shoult or scream loudly, the sound will leave your mouth, travel through the air and bounce off the hard wall. However if you make another noise before the first noise has had a chance to disapeer, the first and second sounds will conflict on top of each other – creating a louder sound. As you can imagine, with various levels of sounds in an open space office this can create unwanted disruptive noise which can be hard to ignore.
However if you installed acoustic panels in the same room and repeat the process, you will notice the sound will hit the wall but only a small percentage will bounce back into the room.
When noise is reflected using acoustic panels it shortens the time taken for the sound to die down, so when the second sound is created the first sound has already disapeered and no sounds conflict together, hence reducing the overall noise in the office.
Hopefully now you can understand the benefits of using acoustic products in the workplace and the advantages they will bring to your business. To find out more about our full range or to request an acoustic survey please get in touch for more details.
